Diese ÖNORM legt auf Basis von ÖNORM EN 16662-1 Anforderungen und Prüfbestimmungen für Gleitschutzvorrichtungen fest, die für die Verwendung auf Fahrzeugen der Klassen M1, N1, O1, und O2 gemäß § 3, KFG 1967 bestimmt sind und die bei bestimmungsgemäßem Gebrauch ein Mindestmaß an Gleitsicherheit bieten. Die Festlegungen zur Eigenüberwachung (werkseigenen Produktionskontrolle) sind im normativen Anhang A und die empfohlenen Konformitätskriterien im informativen Anhang B angegeben. Diese ÖNORM gilt nicht für konventionelle Schneeketten. Die Anforderungen von Schneeketten für die Verwendung auf PKW-Rädern und Rädern für leichte Nutzfahrzeuge und Anhänger sind ÖNORM V 5117 zu entnehmen.
