Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Berechnungsverfahren auf der Grundlage von Prüfergebnissen von Holzwerkstoffen für tragende Zwecke fest zur Bestimmung von: charakteristischen 5-%-Quantilwerten von mechanischen Eigenschaften unter Annahme einer lognormalen Verteilung der Prüfwerte nach EN 14358; und von charakteristischen Mittelwerten (50-%-Quantilwerte) von physikalischen Eigenschaften unter Annahme einer Normalverteilung der Prüfwerte. Die Prüfwerte sollten nach den in EN 789 angegebenen Prüfverfahren bestimmt werden.
