Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt das Referenzverfahren für die Typenprüfung und im Streitfall, für die Bestimmung des Widerstandes der groben Gesteinskörnung gegen Verschließ durch Spikereifen. Für andere Zwecke, insbesondere der Produktionskontrolle in Fabriken, dürfen andere Verfahren angewendet werden, sofern ein ausreichender Zusammenhang mit diesem Referenzverfahren nachgewiesen wurde. Die Prüfung ist für Gesteinskörnungen mit einer Körnung von 11,2 mm bis 16,0 mm anwendbar.
