EN 1129-1 legt Anforderungen an die Sicherheit und Festigkeit von Klappbetten im hausiichen Gebrauch fest. Diese Norm behandelt auch die Festigkeit von Wandbefestigungsmitteln, wo diese verwendet werden. Diese Norm legt nicht die Eigenschaften der bei der Herstellung von Klappbetten verwendeten Werkstoffe oder von elektrischen Einrichtungen fest. Faltbetten, Campingliegen, Schlafcouches oder zu Betten umwandelbare Sessel oder Sofas werden in dieser Norm nicht behandelt. Im Anhang A (informativ) sind die Anforderungen in bezug auf die Prüfabläufe schematisch dargestellt.
