Der vorliegende Teil von EN 12259 legt die Anforderungen, Prüfverfahren, die Konformitätsbewertung und Kennzeichnung von Sprühwasseralarmventilen mit Nennweiten im Bereich von DN40 bis DN250 fest, die für den Einsatz im Brandschutz vorgesehen sind. Dieses Dokument ist für Ventile mit Klappen und Membranventile anwendbar, es ist nicht für Elastomer-Ringbalgventile anwendbar und schließt keine Regeln für die Konstruktion, den Einbau und die Instand-haltung von Brandschutz-Sprühwasseranlagen ein. Zusatz- und Befestigungsbauelemente für Sprühwasseralarmventile werden in diesem Teil von EN 12259 mit Ausnahme von automatischen Entwässerungsventilen nicht behandelt.
