In dieser ÖNORM werden zwei Prüfverfahren, die als Methode A und Methode B bezeichnet werden, festgelegt, welche der schnellen Dichtigkeitsprüfung von Rohren und Formstücken aus glasfaserverstärkten duroplastischen Kunststoffen (GFK) unter Kurzzeit-Innendruck dienen. Methode A ist eine hydraulische Prüfung, die für ein Rohr unter einachsigem oder zweiachsigem Spannungszustand anwendbar ist, je nachdem, wie das Rohr dimensioniert ist. Methode B ist eine pneumatische Prüfung, die für Rohre und Formstücke anwendbar ist. Für Rohre ist sie ergänzend zur Methode A vorgesehen und nicht als eine alternative Prüfung. Die Überprüfung der Dichtigkeit von Verbindungen oder der Widerstandsfähigkeit von Rohren gegen hydrostatischen Langzeit-Druck wird in anderen Normen behandelt.
