Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Aufsätze und Abdeckungen aus Polypropylen (PP), Polyethylen (PE) oder weichmacherfreiem Polyvinylchlorid (PVC-U), die durch Formen oder Extrusion hergestellt werden, mit einer lichten Weite bis einschließlich 1 000 mm zum Abdecken von Abläufen sowie Einsteig- und Kontrollschächten in Flächen, die für Fußgänger- und/oder Fahrzeugverkehr bestimmt sind. Sie gilt für Abdeckungen und Aufsätze zum Einbau in - Flächen, die ausschließlich von Fußgängern und Radfahrern benutzt werden können (Klasse A 15), - Fußgängerzonen und vergleichbaren Flächen, PKW-Parkflächen oder PKW-Parkdecks (Klasse B 125). Diese Europäische Norm enthält außerdem Leitlinien für Kombinationen aus Deckeln/Rosten aus PP, PE oder PVC-U und Rahmen nach EN 124-2, EN 124-3, EN 124-4 oder EN 124-5. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht als alleinstehendes Dokument, sondern ausschließlich in Verbindung mit EN 124-1.
