Sie gilt nicht für Übergangsbühnen und Tritte, soweit diese in UICMerkblättern festgelegt sind. Diese Norm legt die wichtigen Abmessungen für die Hersteller und Anwender solcher Kesselwagen fest und berücksichtigt die entsprechenden gültigen Konstruktions- und Sicherheitsrichtlinien. Diese Norm gilt für neue Kesselwagen, die nach dem 1. Januar 2010 gebaut werden. Diese Norm gilt in Anbetracht kleinerer Fahrzeugbegrenzungen innerhalb Großbritanniens nicht für Wagen die ausschließlich dort betrieben werden.
