Die Norm legt Regeln für die Konstruktion und Berechnung von geschweißten, ortsfesten, drucklosen, runden, stehenden Flachbodentanks aus Thermoplasten fest. Wind- und/oder Schneelasten werden nicht berücksichtigt. Der zylindrische Mantel kann aus geschweißten Platten oder einem extrusionsgewickelten Zylinder oder einem extrudierten Rohr gefertigt sein. Die Berechnung berücksichtigt sowohl Drücke über kurze oder lange Zeiträume, als auch die hydrostatische Belastung.
