Dieses Dokument legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Gehalts an ungelösten Stoffen, bezeichnet als Gesamtverschmutzung, in Mitteldestillaten und in Dieselkraftstoffen mit einem Anteil von bis zu 30 % (V/V) Fettsäure-Methylester (FAME, en: fatty acid methyl esters) fest. Der Arbeitsbereich liegt zwischen 12 mg/kg und 26 mg/kg und wurde in einem Ringversuch unter Anwendung von EN ISO 4259-1 ermittelt. Dieses Dokument ist im Allgemeinen anwendbar für Erzeugnisse mit einer kinematischen Viskosität nicht größer als 8 mm^(2)/s bei 20 °C bzw. nicht größer als 5 mm^(2)/s bei 40 °C. Dieses Prüfverfahren kann für paraffinische Dieselkraftstoffe nach EN 15940, für Dieselkraftstoffe mit einem Gehalt von mehr als 30 % (V/V) FAME sowie für Mineralölerzeugnisse mit einer kinematischen Viskosität größer als 8 mm^(2)/s bei 20 °C bzw. größer als 5 mm^(2)/s bei 40 °C eingesetzt werden. Für diese Fälle wurde die Präzision des Prüfverfahrens allerdings noch nicht ermittelt.
