Diese Europäische Norm legt die Eigenschaften eines Blendschutzsystems hinsichtlich seiner optischen Wirksamkeit und der mechanischen Eigenschaften seiner Bestandteile fest. Es werden nur auf Schutzeinrichtungen montierbare Blendschutzsysteme behandelt und Empfehlungen für die Konstruktion von Blendschutzsystemen mit geringem Wartungsaufwand gegeben. Optische Eigenschaften können nach den in dieser Norm beschriebenen Berechnungsverfahren bestimmt werden. Eigenschaften, die eine Vergleichbarkeit mit Verkehrszeichen beinhalten, sind nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm. Die Prüfverfahren für Blendschutzsysteme werden in ÖNORM EN 12677 beschrieben.
