Die Norm legt ein Verfahren für die Prüfung der Absatzbefestigung von Schuhen fest und gilt für Damenschuhe mit mittelhohen und hohen Absätzen. Mit dem Prüfverfahren werden drei Trageeigenschaften bestimmt: die Steifigkeit des Fersenteils beim üblichen Gehen; das Ausmaß dauerhafter Verformung des Fersenteils aufgrund einer ziemlich großen, rückwärts gerichteten Krafteinwirkung auf den Absatz; die erforderliche Kraft zum Lösen des Absatzes.
