Die Kohlenstoffilamentgarne werden für die Herstellung von Halbzeug und zur Verstärkung von Teilen aus Metallen, Kunststoffen und keramischen Werkstoffen verwendet. Als Ausgangsmaterial dienen Filamentgarne aus Polyacrylnitril, Pech oder Viskose, die durch eine gesteuerte Pyrolyse in Kohlenstoffilamentgarne überführt werden.
