Diese Europäische Norm legt ein gerätegestütztes Verfahren zur routinemäßigen Bestimmung der physikalischen Eigenschaften Rohdichte (trocken), Wasserkapazität, Luftkapazität, Schrumpfungswert und Gesamtporenvolumen von Bodenverbesserungsmitteln oder Kultursubstraten fest. Diese Europäische Norm ist ungeeignet für sehr grobe Materialien, die keinen ausreichenden Kapillarkontakt ausbilden oder solche die vorgeformt und nicht gekörnt vorliegen und deren Poren verschlossen sind. Sie gilt für Materialien mit Teilchen bis 25 mm und/oder biegsame Fasern bis 80 mm.
