Dieser Teil der Europäischen Norm legt Verfahren fest zur Bestimmung des Monomers Terephthalsäure in den Prüflebensmitteln destilliertes Wasser, 3%ige Essigsäure (w/v) in wässriger Lösung, 15%iges Ethanol (Volumenanteil) in wässriger Lösung und Olivenöl oder anderen fettigen Prüflebensmitteln, Simulanz D, z. B. einer künstlichen Mischung von Triglyceriden, Sonnenblumenöl oder Maiskeimöl. Die Verfahren eignen sich zur Bestimmung von Terephthalsäure in den Prüflebensmitteln im Bereich des spezifischen Migrationsgrenzwertes von 7,5 mg Terephthalsäure je Kilogramm Prüflebensmittel. Dieses Verfahren wurde für die Bestimmung von Terephthalsäure in 15%igem wässrigen Ethanol (Volumenanteil) entwickelt, wie es die Vorschriften verlangten, die zur Zeit der Durchführung der Entwicklungsarbeiten in Kraft waren. Dieses für 15%iges Ethanol (Volumenanteil) in wässriger Lösung entwickelte Verfahren sollte jedoch auf die Bestimmung in 10%igem Ethanol (Volumenanteil) in wässriger Lösung anwendbar sein.
