Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen und Prüfungen für Zeigerthermometer fest, die bei der Temperaturaufnahme die Druckänderung von Gasen, die Ausdehnung von Flüssigkeiten und die unterschiedliche Ausdehnung von Bimetallen nutzen. Sie gilt für Nenngrößen von 40 bis 60 und für Temperaturbereiche von -100 °C bis +700 °C. Die Festlegungen gelten für Thermometer mit rundem Zifferblatt, die für industrielle Anwendungen vorgesehen sind. Diese Norm gilt auch für quadratische Thermometer, deren Maße für das Gehäuse, das Zifferblatt und den Zeiger in dieser Norm nicht festgelegt sind. Diese Norm gilt nicht für Thermometer für die Anwendung in der Medizin und nicht für Thermometer mit Einrichtungen zur elektrischen Grenzsignalgabe.
