Kopfschützer sind eine individuelle Ausrüstung zum Schutz der Stirn, der Seiten des Kopfes und des Hinterkopfes im Kampfsport. Sie haben den Zweck, den Träger gegen Verletzungen durch Schläge mit Händen, Armen, Beinen und Füßen zu schützen. Festgelegt sind die zu den allgemeinen Anforderungen und Prüfungen von Schutzausrüstungen nach EN 13277-1 erforderlichen zusätzlichen Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für Kopfschützer ohne Gesichtsschutz, die bei Kampfsportarten ohne Waffe, wie Taekwondo, Karate, Kick-Boxing und ähnlichen Diszplinen benutzt werden. Für Kopfschützer beim Boxen kann die Norm ebenfalls angewandt werden. Diese ÖNORM enthält die Europäische Änderung A1:2007 mit der Abschnitt 4.7, 5.6, 5.7.2 und Abschnitt 7 geändert wurden.
