Diese Europäische Norm ist Teil einer Normenreihe mit dem Haupttitel "Ungebundene und hydraulisch gebundene Gemische" und legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung der maximalen Trockendichte (Bezugswert) und der Verdichtung einer hydraulisch gebundenen oder ungebundenen Mischung mit Hilfe eines Verdichtungsgerätes fest. Dieses Verfahren wird als "Vibrationsverdichtung mit vertikalem Druck" (CPVC Controlled Parameters Vibro Compression) bezeichnet. Diese Norm gilt für ungebundene Mischungen und ebenso für Mischungen mit hydraulischen Bindemitteln vor dem Aushärten. Das Verfahren ist auf Mischungen mit einem Größtkorn D = 31,5 mm anwendbar. In einem informativen Anhang A ist die Bewertung und Klassifizierung der Verdichtung angegeben.
