Diese Europäische Norm ist Teil einer Normenreihe mit dem Haupttitel "Ungebundene und hydraulisch gebundene Gemische" und legt ein Verfahren fest zur Bestimmung der höchsten Trockendichte von nichtbindigen Materialien, nachdem diese mittels eines Vibrationstisches verdichtet wurden. Das Verfahren nutzt die Vibrationsverdichtung, um unter Sättigungsbedingungen die höchste Dichte zu erhalten. Dieses Verfahren ist auf Materialien anwendbar, die einen Feinanteil (Korngröße < 0,063 mm) bis 12 % der Masse enthalten dürfen. Das Größtkorn der zu prüfenden Gemische beträgt 80 mm. Das Verfahren ist auf ofentrockene Materialien, denen eine ausreichende Menge an Wasser zugeführt wird, oder auf erdfeuchtes Material anwendbar. Es gilt für Mischungen, die im Straßenbau verwendet werden.
