Diese Norm legt Mindestanforderungen für das Spleißen von Schlaufen bei 6- oder 8-litzigen Drahtseilen aus Stahldraht nach EN 12385-4 bis zu einem Durchmesser von 60 mm, die für Anschlagseile verwendet werden, fest, um sicherzustellen, dass die Schlaufe fest genug ist, um eine Kraft von mindestens 80 % der Mindestbruchkraft des Seiles zu ertragen. Andere Gefährdungen, die durch diese Norm abgedeckt werden, sind in Abschnitt 4 angegeben.
