Die Methode zur quantitativen Bestimmung von Restlösemitteln mittels Gaschromatotographie wird beschrieben. Die chemische Identität des Restlösemittels, das bestimmt werden soll, muss bekannt sein, bevor die Analyse durchgeführt wird. Während der Analyse können Überlagerungen durch thermische Abbauprodukte auftreten, deren Bestimmung nicht im Anwendungszweck dieses Verfahrens liegt. Die Methode ist anwendbar für flexible Packstoffe aus Kunststoff, Papier, Pappe, Metall oder Verbunden dieser Materialien, ist aber nicht geeignet für Restlösemittelgehalte unter 0,5 mg/m2.
