Einige Eigenschaften von Explosivstoffen, die zur Definition der energetischen Leistung dieser Explosivstoffe auf einer apriorischen Grundlage verwendet werden, können durch thermodynamische Berechnungen ermittelt werden. Das Ergebnis einer derartigen Berechnung, die auf der Zusammensetzung und Dichte des Explosivstoffes beruht, hängt vom betrachteten Detonationszustand, den thermodynamischen Daten und dem Berechnungsverfahren selbst ab. Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Berechnung der Detonationskennwerte für den Explosionszustand mit konstantem Volumen und einiger davon abgeleiteter Parameter.
