Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Mangandioxid zur Aufbereitung von Wasser für den menschlichen Gebrauch. Sie beschreibt die Eigenschaften von Mangandioxid und legt die Anforderungen sowie die entsprechenden Prüfverfahren für Mangandioxid fest und gibt Hinweise auf entsprechende analytische Verfahren. Sie enthält Angaben zu dessen Anwendung in der Wasseraufbereitung. Zwei Produktklassen sind festgelegt: Klasse 1 mit einer Härte von größer gleich 6 Mohs, Klasse 2 mit einer Härte von < 6 Mohs.
