Diese Norm gilt für Rollschuhe, die für Benutzer mit einer Körpermasse von mehr als 20 kg vorgesehen sind. Diese Norm legt sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen an Rollschuhe fest und enthält die Festlegungen für Prüfverfahren, Kennzeichnung und Benutzerinformation, die bei bestimmungsgemäßer Anwendung die Verletzungsgefahr für Dritte und die Benutzer verringern soll. Rollschuhe für einen Läufer von weniger als 20 kg gehören nicht zum Anwendungsbereich dieser Europäischen Norm. Sie werden durch EN 71-1 erfasst. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für Inline-Skates.
