Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Schäumvermögens eines grenzflächenaktiven Stoffes und der Entschäumerwirkung eines Antischäummittels bezüglich einer schäumenden Lösung fest. Das Verfahren ist für alle grenzflächenaktiven Stoffe und insbesondere für schwach schäumende Produkte sowie für entschäumende grenzflächenaktive Stoffe anwendbar. Die Bestimmung des Schäumvermögens von Lösungen leicht hydrolysierbarer Substanzen ergibt jedoch keine gültigen Ergebnisse, da sich die Hydrolyseprodukte in dem Flüssigkeitsfilm anreichern und die Beständigkeit des Schaums beeinflussen.
