Diese Europäische Norm legt ein mikrobiologisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Gesamtgehaltes an Folat in Lebensmitteln fest, wobei das Wachstum des Mikroorganismus Lactobacillus casei, subsp. rhamnosus (ATCC 7469) durch Trübungsmessung bestimmt wird. Dieses Verfahren erlaubt die Bestimmung von Folat einschließlich natürlich vorkommender Folate und hinzugefügter Folsäure (Pteroylglutaminsäure) in Lebensmitteln.
