Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für gehandelte und ausgelieferte Fettsäure-Methylester (en: Fatty Acid Methyl Esters, FAME) für die Verwendung in Kraftfahrzeugen mit Dieselmotoren und für Heizanwendungen fest, entweder als Dieselkraftstoff bzw. Heizöl mit einer Konzentration von 100 %, oder als Blendkomponente für Dieselkraftstoff in Übereinstimmung mit den Anforderungen nach EN 590 bzw. für Heizöl. Bei einer Konzentration von 100 % ist FAME einsetzbar in Fahrzeugen mit Dieselmotoren und in Heizungsanlagen, welche für den Einsatz von 100 % FAME entwickelt oder nachträglich angepasst wurden.
