Festgelegt sind für Handschuhe und Armschützer zum Schutz gegen kraftbetriebene Messer die Anforderungen an Gestaltung, Schnittfestigkeit, ergonomische Merkmale, Unschädlichkeit, Befestigungen, Baustoffe, Kennzeichnung und Gebrauchsanweisungen, sowie die geeigneten Prüfverfahren. Es ist gegenwärtig nicht bekannt, dass irgend ein praktisch verwendbares Handschuhmaterial außer Metallringgeflecht einen angemessenen Schutz gegen kraftbetriebene Messer bietet, da das bei der Berührung des Handschuhs mit einer kraftbetriebenen Messerklinge entstehende Geräusch und die entsprechenden Schwingungen es möglich machen, rechtzeitig zu reagieren, um einen Unfall zu verhindern.
