Diese Europäische Norm legt ein gravimetrisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Kohlenwasserstoffgehalts in festem und in wässrigem flüssigem Abfall fest. Sie ist anwendbar auf Kohlenwasserstoffgehalte von über 0,1 % (m/m), bezogen auf die Trockenmasse; sie ist nicht anwendbar auf Abfälle mit einem hohen Gehalt an flüchtigen Kohlenwasserstoffen, da es während des Trocknungsprozesses zu Verlusten dieser flüchtigen Bestandteile kommt. Dieses Verfahren liefert keine qualitativen Informationen über die Natur und Herkunft der Kohlenwasserstoffe.
