Dieses Dokument beschreibt die Grundanforderungen für die Konstruktion und Anwendung von Explosions-Unterdrückungssystemen. Dieses Dokument legt außerdem Prüfverfahren zur Beurteilung der Wirksamkeit und Skalierung von Explosions-Unterdrückungssystemen bei bestimmten Explosionen fest. Dieses Dokument behandelt: ż- allgemeine Anforderungen an Bauteile für Explosions-Unterdrückungssysteme; ż - Bewerten der Wirksamkeit eines Explosions-Unterdrückungssystems; ż - Bewerten der Extrapolation eines Explosions-Unterdrückungssystems über das geprüfte Volumen hinaus; ż - Entwicklung und Bewertung von Auslegungsverfahren für Explosions-Unterdrückungssysteme; ż - Einbau-, Betriebs- und Instandhaltungsanleitungen für ein Explosions-Unterdrückungssystem. Dieses Dokument ist nur für Explosions-Unterdrückungssysteme anwendbar, die zum Schutz von geschlossenen oder im Wesentlichen geschlossenen Gehäusen vorgesehen sind, in denen eine Explosion durch die Zündung eines explosionsfähigen Gemisches, z. B. Staub/Luft, Gas(Dampf)/Luft, Staub/Gas(Dampf)/Luft und Nebel/Luft, entstehen könnte. Dieses Dokument ist nicht anwendbar für Explosionen von nachstehend aufgeführten Stoffen oder Gemischen, die diese Stoffe enthalten: ż - instabile Stoffe, die möglicherweise zerfallen können; ż - Explosivstoffe; ż - pyrotechnische Materialien; ż - pyrophore Stoffe.
