Festgelegt sind die Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für den Bau, die Sicherheit, die Kennzeichnung sowie die effektvolle Energienutzung von Heizeinsätzen für gasförmige Brennstoffe zur Mehrraumheizung, welche in eine Verkleidung, die aus Mauerwerk oder ähnlichem Material hergestellt ist, eingebaut sind. Sie gilt für gasbefeuerte Geräte der Typen B11BS und C11, die einen atmosphärischen Brenner besitzen und direkt an einen Schornstein oder an eine Einrichtung zur Abführung der Abgase angeschlossen sind. Die Nennwärmeleistung (bezogen auf den Heizwert) ist mit maximal 20 kW begrenzt. Die Festlegungen gelten auch für Heizeinsätze für die Mehrraumbeheizung mit Kaminfeuereffekt.
