Allgemeine Anforderungen für Steuerstände von Kranen sind in EN 13557 festgelegt. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt ebenfalls Anforderungen an das Antriebssystem, das Tragsystem und an Sicherheitseinrichtungen für den höhenverstellbaren Steuerstand. Gefährdungen, die während Transport, Auf- und Abbau, Änderung oder Wartung auftreten können, werden von dieser Europäischen Norm nicht behandelt. Diese Europäische Norm ist nicht auf Steuerstände anwendbar, die sich mit einer Last oder einem Lastaufnahmemittel bewegen. Diese Europäische Norm ist nicht auf Aufzüge für Kranfahrer anwendbar. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt keine Gefährdungen durch Lärm, da Lärm, verursacht durch die Bewegung des höhenverstellbaren Steuerstandes, unerheblich ist im Vergleich zum Lärm, verursacht durch die normale Kranarbeit.
