Diese Europäische Norm behandelt die technische Ausrüstung für die Phenolphthalein-Testmethode sowie deren Durchführung und -Auswertung. Diese Methode wird verwendet, um die Tiefe von nahe der Festbeton-Oberfläche befindlichen Karbonatisierungszonen abzuschätzen. Sie ist jedoch nicht geeignet für Beton, welcher mit Tonerde-Schmelzzement hergestellt wurde. Diese Methode kann sowohl vor Ort wie auch im Labor an Probekörpern, Bohrkernen oder Bruchstücken, welche von den betrachteten Festbetonbauteilen entnommen wurden, angewendet werden.
