Diese Europäische Norm enthält Anforderungen an die Verwendung von elektrisch gesteuerten Feststellanlagen an Feuer-/Rauchschutztüren in Gebäuden, wo gefordert ist, dass solche Türen selbstschließend sind. Sie umfasst Planung, Gestaltung, Installation, Inbetriebnahme, Betrieb und Wartung von Feststellanlagen, die zum Schutz von Leben und/oder für den Sachschutz bestimmt sind. Dies kann auch Feststellanlagen oder Elemente von Feststellanlagen einschließen, die unabhängig in einem gemeinsamen Gehäuse untergebracht sind. Diese Europäische Norm befasst sich nicht mit Gestaltung, Installation, Inbetriebnahme, Betrieb und Wartung von Brandmeldeanlagen von Gebäuden (abgedeckt durch EN 54-14), umfasst jedoch die Verbindung von Feststellanlagen nach dieser Norm mit Brandmeldeanlagen von Gebäuden unter bestimmten vorgeschriebenen Bedingungen. Diese Europäische Norm befasst sich nicht mit elektrisch gesteuerten Systemen, die dem Rauchabzug dienen oder die es ermöglichen, dass die Tür bei Störungen offen bleibt (d.h. nicht funktionssicher).
