Dieses Dokument legt Verfahren fest, durch die ein Anwender darauf vertrauen kann, dass die wesentlichen Merkmale jedes an ihn gelieferten Loses von Dichtungen oder Dichtungswerkstoffen konstant bleiben. Die in diesem Dokument behandelten Dichtungsarten sind diejenigen, die in den Anwendungsbereich der Normenreihe EN 1514 und der Normenreihe EN 12560 sowie gleichzeitig der Normenreihe EN 1591 fallen. Eine Ausnahme bilden die ausschließlich für Flüssigkeiten für den häuslichen Gebrauch (z. B. Wasser, Abwasser usw.) bestimmten Dichtungen aus Gummi mit oder ohne Verstärkung wie Füllstoffe und/oder Einlagen.
