Diese Europäischen Norm spezifiziert: - die Anforderungen an Kontrollelemente von pneumatischen Bremsen und die durchzuführenden Prüfungen, - das vom Käufer anzuwendende Abnahmeverfahren, - den Qualitätsnachweis für ein Produkt, basierend auf den vorgegebenen Anforderungen, - die Qualitätsüberwachungsmassnahmen für Hersteller von Kontrollelementen von pneumatischen Bremsen. Die Anforderungen dieser Europäischen Norm sind auf Kontrollelemente von pneumatischen Bremsen anzuwenden, die in Eisenbahnfahrzeugen zum Einsatz kommen die auf eigenen Strecken unter permanenter Kontrolle betrieben werden, unabhängig von der Art und der Linienführung der Strecke. Diese Europäische Norm behandelt Kontrollelemente als Einheit. Die einzelnen Komponenten werden in eigenen technischen Spezifikationen beschrieben.
