In diesem Dokument wird das Verfahren festgelegt, mit dem Proben fester oder flüssiger Formen organischer Düngemittel, organisch-mineralischer Düngemittel und mineralischer Düngemittel, die mehr als 1 % Massenanteil an organischem Kohlenstoff enthalten und in Packungen, Behältern oder in loser Form vorliegen, für Prüfungen des Umfangs des kontrollierten Vorkommens von Mikroorganismen entnommen werden. Dieses Dokument ist nicht anwendbar auf die Probenahme für das Vorkommen von Mikroorganismen in Kultursubstraten und Bodenverbesserungsmitteln (siehe EN 12579) oder Biostimulanzien für die pflanzliche Anwendung (siehe CEN/TS 17702-1).
