Diese Norm legt zwei Verfahren zur Bestimmung des Cadmiumgehaltes von festen mineralischen Düngemitteln und Rohphosphaten nach Extraktion mit Salpetersäure fest. Organische Düngemittel sind nicht Gegenstand der vorliegenden Norm. In Anbetracht dessen, dass Flammen-AAS und ICP-OES weit verbreitete und häufig angewendete Verfahren sind, wurde entschieden, beide Nachweisverfahren in diese Norm aufzunehmen. Verfahren A: Bestimmung des Cadmiumgehaltes durch Flammen-Atomabsorptionsspektrometrie (Flammen-AAS). Verfahren B: Bestimmung des Cadmiumgehaltes durch optische Emissionsspektroskopie mit induktiv gekoppeltem Plasma (ICP-OES). Aufgrund der Bestimmungsgrenzen der Detektionstechniken sind jedoch beide Verfahren nur bei einem Cadmiumgehalt von mindestens 1 mg/kg anwendbar.
