Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung der Maschenlänge und längenbezogenen Garnfeinheit von Gestricken fest. Sofern es möglich ist, diese aufzuziehen, kann das Prüfverfahren auch für Kettengewirke gelten. Die Messungen sollen an Garnen von jedem Fadenführer und/oder unterschiedlich musternden Maschenreihen durchgeführt werden. Die Ergebnisse können für die Untersuchung von Herstellungsfehlern, zB. des Barré-Effekts (Querstreifigkeit), genutzt werden.
