Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt die grundlegenden Anforderungen an Explosionsentkopplungs-Systeme. Diese Norm legt Verfahren zur Bewertung der Wirksamkeit verschiedener Explosionsentkopplungs-Systeme und Verfahren zur Beurteilung von Dimensionierungsmethoden für derartige Explosionsentkopplungs- Systeme bei der praktischen Anwendung fest. Diese Europäische Norm legt auch die Kriterien für alternative Prüfverfahren und Interpretationsmittel zum Bewerten der Wirksamkeit von Explosionsentkopplungen fest. Diese Europäische Norm gilt nur für die Anwendung von Explosionsentkopplungs-Systemen, die zum Verhindern der Explosionsweiterleitung zwischen miteinander verbundenen Gehäusen/Behältern, in denen eine Explosion als Folge einer Entzündung eines explosionsfähigen Gemischs, z. B. Staub-Luft-Gemische, Gas-(Dampf-)Luft-Gemische, Staub-Gas-(Dampf-)Luft-Gemische und Nebel, eintreten kann, vorgesehen sind.
