2,2-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)propan-bis-(2,3-epoxypropyl)ether (BADGE) und Bis(hydroxyphenyl)methan-bis-(2,3-epoxypropyl)ether (BFDGE) sind Monomere, die bei der Herstellung von bestimmten Werkstoffen und Gegenständen, die für den Kontakt mit Lebensmitteln vorgesehen sind, verwendet werden. Diese Monomere werden hauptsächlich für Beschichtungen von Dosen und Deckeln verwendet. Die Substanzen können auch in Organosolbeschichtungen verwendet werden. Nach der Herstellung können Rückstände der Substanzen oder Reaktionsprodukte im Endprodukt verbleiben und in Lebensmittel migrieren, die mit dem Produkt in Berührung kommen. Diese Europäische Norm beschreibt ein Verfahren zur Bestimmung von BADGE, BFDGE und deren Reaktionsprodukten in den Prüflebensmitteln destilliertes Wasser, 3%ige Essigsäure (m/V) in wässriger Lösung, 10%iges Ethanol (Volumenanteil) in wässriger Lösung und Olivenöl oder Sonnenblumenöl. Angewendet wird ein Hochleistungs-Flüssigkeitschromatographie-Verfahren (HPLC), das auf Umkehrphasen-HPLC und Fluoreszenzdetektion beruht.
