Diese ÖNORM legt Anforderungen an die chemischen und physikalischen Eigenschaften sowie Verfahren für die Güteüberwachung von Hüttensand fest, der als Zusatzstoff Typ II bei der Herstellung von Beton, einschließlich besonders auch von Ortbeton oder Betonfertigteilen für tragende Zwecke nach EN 206-1, verwendet wird. Hüttensand, der dieser Norm entspricht, kann auch in Mörteln und Einpress-mörteln verwendet werden. Hüttensand, der außer Mahlhilfen noch andere Zusatzstoffe enthält, ist nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm. Festlegungen für die praktische Anwendung von Hüttensand bei der Herstellung von Beton, Mörtel oder Einpressmörtel, d. h. Anforderungen an die Zusammensetzung, das Mischen, den Einbau, die Nachbehandlung usw., sind ebenfalls nicht Gegenstand dieser Norm. Für diesbezügliche Festlegungen wird auf andere Europäische oder nationale Normen, wie z. B. ÖNORM EN 206-1, verwiesen.
