Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zur Bewertung der Energieerzeugung durch Windenergieanlagen (WEA) im unmittelbaren Gebäudeumfeld sowie der Berechnung der Energieeffizienz der Windenergieanlagen fest. Die in diesem Dokument beschriebenen WEA sind kleine Anlagen, wie sie zur Eigenerzeugung und zum Energieverbrauch in Verbindung mit spezifischen Gebäuden vorkommen können. Diese Norm deckt Windenergieanlagen bis zu einer Leistung von kleiner gleich 75 kW ab. Diese Europäische Norm deckt nicht die Dimensionierung oder Inspektion von WEA ab. Andere Erzeugungsanlagen werden in anderen Untergruppen des Teils M3-8 behandelt. Tabelle 1 zeigt die relative Position dieser Norm innerhalb des EPB-Normenpakets im Kontext der modularen Struktur wie in ISO 52000-1 dargelegt.
