Diese Europäische Norm legt Werkstoffkennwerte, Prüfanforderungen und Prüfverfahren für die vergleichende Prüfung von Polyethylensorten hochmolekularen Polyethylens hoher Dichte (en: high molecular weight high density polyethylene, PE-HD-HMW) und mittelmolekularen Polyethylens hoher Dichte (en: medium molecular weight high density polyethylene, PE-HD-MMW), für die Herstellung von Verpackungen und Großpackmitteln (IBCs) für die Beförderung gefährlicher Güter fest. Es ist vorgesehen, sie in Verbindung mit der selektiven Prüfung von Verpackungen für flüssige Stoffe anzuwenden. Die Norm ist nicht für die vergleichende Prüfung von Recycling-Kunststoffen vorgesehen.
