Diese Europäische Norm legt ein Verfahren zum Nachweis und zur Bestimmung organischer Substanzen fest, die der GC-MS-Analyse mit den beschriebenen Verfahren zugänglich sind und von Produkten in Trinkwasser migrieren können. Diese Europäische Norm gibt nicht alle notwendigen Maßnahmen zur vollständigen Bestimmung sämtlicher nachgewiesener Substanzen an. Ein Verfahren zur semi-quantitativen Bestimmung der Konzentrationen der nachgewiesenen organischen Substanzen wird ebenfalls angegeben, jedoch sollten die Konzentrationen lediglich als Anhaltswerte angesehen werden.
