Die Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen für die automatischen Kupplungen Typ 10 für Schienenfahrzeuge fest. Sie definiert die Mindestanforderungen an die Schnittstelle, um das automatische Kuppeln (mechanisch und pneumatisch) von zwei automatischen Kupplungen Typ 10 zu erlauben. Die Schnittstellen der Endkupplungen, die in dieser Europäischen Norm festgelegt sind: - ermöglichen im Falle eines Ausfalles das Abschleppen (Bergen) eines Zuges durch einen anderen Zug unterschiedlichen Typs, ohne dass ein Zwischen-Kupplungsadapter, Zubehör oder ein anderes Bauteil benötigt wird; - die Referenz-Schnittstellen, die die Abschleppkupplung nach EN 15020 erfüllen muss. Diese Norm legt nicht fest: - Schnittstellen-Anforderungen für die elektrischen Anschlüsse; - Anforderungen an den Freiraum um den Kupplungskopf; - die Höhe über Schienenoberkante für die Kupplung; - die Position des Drehpunktes der Kupplung.
