Diese Europäische Norm legt Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung von Festigkeit, Dauerhaltbarkeit und Standsicherheit für alle Arten von Behältnismöbeln für den Wohn- und Nicht-Wohnbereich (einschließlich Küchenmöbel für den Wohnbereich) fest. Sie gilt nicht für Behältnismöbel im Büro- und Industriebereich, für Gastronomie-Einrichtungen, für Verkaufslager und für Industrie-Schließfächer. Festigkeits- und Dauerhaltbarkeitsprüfungen sind nicht anwendbar auf die Konstruktion eines Gebäudes, so gilt beispielsweise die Festigkeit von Wandhängeschränken nur für die Schränke und für die Teile, die zur Befestigung verwendet werden. Die Wand selbst und die wandseitigen Befestigungsmittel sind darin nicht enthalten. Anforderungen an die Sicherheit, Festigkeit und Dauerhaltbarkeit sind in anderen Europäischen Normen enthalten. Beurteilungen der Auswirkungen von Alterung, Abnutzung und Entflammbarkeit sind nicht eingeschlossen. Anhang A (normativ) enthält Einzelheiten zur Prüfeinrichtung für die Anschlagprüfung von Auszügen.
