Diese Europäische Norm legt drei Verfahren zur Bestimmung der Fähigkeit von nichtmetallischen Werkstoffen, das Wachstum von Mikroorganismen zu fördern, fest. Diese Europäische Norm gilt für diejenigen Materialien, die unter verschiedenen Bedingungen für den Einsatz zum Transport und zur Speicherung von Wasser für den menschlichen Gebrauch bestimmt sind. Die Norm ermöglicht die Prüfung einer einzelnen Materialart oder eines Produkts, bei dem sich nur ein Material in Kontakt mit Wasser befindet. Sie ist nicht geeignet zur Anwendung bei zusammengesetzten Produkten, bei denen mehr als ein Material dem Wasser ausgesetzt ist.
