Dieses Dokument enthält Festlegungen für Sicherheits-, Qualitäts- und Leistungsanforderungen an zusätzliche Gleitschutzvorrichtungen, im Allgemeinen als "SGD" (en: supplementary grip devices) bezeichnet, für nach der geltenden Gesetzgebung zugelassene Reifen, die für die Befestigung an Reifen von Fahrzeugen der Klassen M1, N1, O1, O2 und entsprechender Unterkategorien (Geländefahrzeuge) vorgesehen sind. Die im vorliegenden Dokument enthaltenen Anforderungen gelten für alle SGD, unabhängig von Material/Technologie zur Herstellung. Falls es anwendbare Normen für die spezifische Technologie des Geräts gibt, sind diese zur gemeinsamen Anwendung mit dem vorliegenden Dokument vorgesehen. Falls keine Norm für die spezifische Technologie verfügbar ist, gilt das vorliegende Dokument.
