Diese Europäische Norm legt Mindestanforderungen und andere Kriterien zur Bewertung der allgemeinen Sicherheit und der Gebrauchstauglichkeit im Hinblick auf Umweltbedingungen von Lärmschutzwänden und verwandten Vorrichtungen zur Beeinflussung der Luftschallausbreitung unter eisenbahntypischen Bedingungen fest. Die Anforderungen bei erschwerten Bedingungen müssen vom Konstrukteur berücksichtigt werden. Es werden geeignete Prüfverfahren zur Verfügung gestellt, sofern diese notwendig sind. Für manche Aspekte kann aber eine Erklärung der Baustoffeigenschaften zur Information des Konstrukteurs erforderlich sein.
